Statesman Journal: "Macpherson aims to raise profile of office"

From The Statesman Journal, February 28, 2008

State Rep. Greg Macpherson said Wednesday he would be a doer if elected attorney general, but would have a higher profile than the incumbent who has endorsed him.

In a Salem appearance, Macpherson drew a contrast between his record in three terms in the Oregon House and the stances of his Democratic primary opponent, John Kroger, who has called for a more aggressive approach in the mold of New York's Eliot Spitzer, now that state's governor.

"Some people like to draw attention to themselves and some people like to get things done," Macpherson said at a Marion County DemoForum luncheon.

He recited a list of past statewide officeholders from both parties.

"They rolled up their sleeves and did the things that had to be done, rather than beat up on other people. They were speakers, not screamers. I'd like to think I can carry on that tradition."
